Find Your Passion

Hello followers!

What inspires you? What is a driving passion of yours?

It could literally be anything. What makes you tick?
What can you spend hours on day to day?

When you find your true passion, that's when the real magic happens.
(sorry if that's too corny for you)

You learn new things, become smarter and more understanding.
But above ALL, you learn more about yourself.

My passion is helping people and my inspiration is my mom.

Laurie's passion is kids, I can see it in her eyes. She loves when my cousin and his wife bring their two adorable boys over for a visit with Aunty Laurie.

I know that she wishes more than anything to be able to chase them around the house and throw them up in the air while watching their face light up.

That is what gets her going. One day she'll have grand kids (not any time soon from me) that she will want to spoil and play with.

Right now she is working towards that.
Something as simple as playing with adorable kids.

Mom you have my word... I will work as hard as I can to get you spinning a little tike around on a beautiful summer day in the back yard.

You deserve it.

I set out with the mind set that I was going to free my mom of MS.
Little did I know I would be learning all of this great information on nutrition, the nature of her disease, and HOW HARD IT IS GOING TO BE.

I learned that in order to be successful with this project, patience is key.

Nothing in life comes easy especially if you REALLY want it.
That's why we need all the support we can possible get.

If you have any good wishes or any ideas you would like to share with us you can email The Laurie Campaign to Beat MS at:

tlynnwisnieski@gmail.com

The more encouragement we have the further we can go.
So find your passion and do something with it and don't let it go to waste.
If someone in your life inspires you, let them know.

I can guarantee you, just that simple task can make someone's entire day.

Imagine what it can do for YOU

Welcome to the Laurie Campaign to Beat MS!

Today was the first official day of the diet.

Searching for all organic foods in a busy grocery store is exhausting!
Not to mention finding things like, rice vinegar, brewer's yeast, flax
oil, and bone broth...Yikes!

We made it home safe and sound, but didn't find "bone broth".
If anyone knows where we can find that please let us know :)

As I continue reading Terry L. Wahl's book, "Minding My Mitochondria",
I've come to a great realization.

If eating a healthy diet got a woman out of her wheelchair and walking...
Just image what it could do for someone that doesn't have a debilitating disease.

Nutrition is everything.

Let's put weight loss aside for a minute. This diet is not about getting a Victoria Secret body, it's simply about getting healthy.

Everything we eat effects us, whether we think so or not, that's just the facts.
Many people think eating healthy is a hassle and tastes disgusting.

Well this isn't a fairy tale people, it's real life. Any healthy life style is going to be hard to start because you are still learning the rules and getting used to new tastes.

But with anything we learn, once we know the rules we can begin to use our creativity and break a few. I'm not talking about eating bad, it's all about knowing what foods you should eat and playing with them.

Create your own meals, combine elements, try something new,
but NEVER give up.

Below is a grocery list my mom and I compiled from Terry's book,"Minding My Mitochondria". All the foods on the list are mentioned in the book (we are not limited to this list though) . We did not get everything on the list, but this will give you an idea of what we are working with.

Have a nice day!

"The" Book

Hello All!

For any of you interested in nutrition or know someone with MS and want to help, check out this book.

"Minding My Mitochondria" by Terry L. Wahls, M.D.

Terry, the author, was diagnosed with Secondary Progressive MS and was bound to a wheelchair for 4 years. Being a physician, she began doing some extensive research on the effects of nutrition on MS.

This book is her proof on how she transitioned from a wheelchair to back on her feet. She talks about the medical treatments she has tried, discoveries she has made, nutritional facts, and includes over 100 recipes for a healthy brain.

My mom and I will be working out of this book to create a meal plan for her each week that includes an easy to follow grocery list.

We want to break this book down even further to make it more digestible and easy to follow it's special diet.

I will post some of our favorite recipes as the months go on, but I strongly suggesting buying the book.

The book really is a documentation of a miracle, that I strongly believe will be my Mom's story one day.

Where it all began..

Dear Mom (Laurie), Aunty Cathy & anyone willing to listen,

   This is my Mom, Laurie.

She enjoys sporting events with her husband,

modeling jewelry with her daughter,

hanging with her beloved Rocky

& the great outdoors.

From the looks of it all, some might say she has "Got it made."

But twenty four years ago Laurie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis,
more commonly known as MS. The disease didn't seem like a huge deal back then.

It was manageable...I mean it had to be, she had two kids and a husband to look after.

But MS doesn't care about one's responsibilities.

It will grab a hold of your nervous system and eat it for breakfast,
& that's exactly what it has done to my mom.

Although in a motorized wheel chair, she continues to have faith
& stay as strong as she can for her family.

She hasn't had time to think about herself & what she can do to get better.
Now that her kids are older & in college she can finally get serious about finding a way to get better.

As some may know, MS does not have a medical cure. Not yet at least.

Laurie has tried several treatments that have failed to help. I remember coming home from elementary school and giving her a shot to the leg or stomach everyday. Those shots were supposed to stop the progression of the disease, but failed.

She has tried electrotherapy, several different shot medications, physical therapy, & several neurologists.

All have not done much...
So it's time for a major push.

It has been my wish ever since I knew how to wish,

"Please make the MS go away."

As I got older I would paraphrase a little each time to make sure I was wishing and praying in all different angles.

I would love more than anything to get my mom out of a wheelchair & walking, dancing, jumping spinning, running...

She has so much life in her that is bottled up just sitting.

Can you imagine not walking?

Being absolutely exhausted after making your bed?

For my Senior project at the College for Creative Studies my instructors asked me, "What is your Passion"?

Well if you got this far in the post you know exactly what it is.

GET LAURIE WISNIESKI FREE OF MS FOR LIFE.

Now I know that is a HUGE wish and project.

And It may not be possible to free her of the disease,
but if her quality of life can be improved at all, it would be worth it.

We have the support of my wonderful Aunty Cathy, who is going to help us research and organize a plan of action.

We are going to look at all the possible options for my mom until we find something worth while.

This college project is only 3 1/2 months long but this journey is going to be longer. The timing is perfect to find a solution & I can't wait to get started.

And for anyone who continues to follow along, it is going to be a wild ride!
Feel free to post comments or any information you might have to help us on this journey to a healthier mom.

I love you Mom,
Tiffany
